With 17 still waters containing over 80 acres between them and in excess of 8 miles of rivers, CAPS waters contain Carp to over 50lbs, Tench to over 12lb, Chub over 6lb and Cats over 95lb.

Waters of note
Bovington 1 – 3 acres
21 large common carp, some in excess of 20lbs where stocked in Febuary 2009. Carp to over 30lb are present with persistant rumours of one fish that has now broken the 40lb barrier.
Bovington 2 – 6 acres
The lake is based near to Hatfield Peveral and the Carp are in excess of 40lb.
Brookhall Lake – 2.5 acres
50 pegs. Heavily stocked 4 acre lake set in picturesque Essex countryside near the village of Tiptree. Tremendous head of carp to 29lb.
Inworth Grange Lake – 3.25 acres
Inworth Grange is just under 4 acres in size with a lake bottom resembling a lunar landscape due to the bars that litter the water. This water used to be part of the chain of waters that where used by the gravel company in their washing process. It is known to contain carp up to over 38lb (approx. 3 carp over 30lb), with the overall stock being estimated at 50-60 fish.
Layer Pit – 17 acres
Situated just outside Layer-de-la-Haye about 4 miles from Colchester, this is an excellent fishery, with a well deserved reputation for big fish. In the last year, Carp in excess of 37 lbs (10 over 30lb).
Lodge Farm – 10 acres
This lake is set in open farmland near St Osyth, it was dug around 2005 but has yet to be landscaped. This was a virgin water when CAPS took it on and we have stocked the water with carp ranging to over 20lb including some large mirror’s.
Prestons Lake – 19 acres
Approximately 12 miles from Colchester, between White Colne and Pebmarsh. There is a good stock of Carp to over 30lb.
Rectory Pool – 3 acres
Rectory Pool based in Bradwell is a mature lake of approximately 3 acres. 20 large common carp to upper 20’s have been stocked in February 2009. There has also been a further stocking of smaller carp. The largest reported carp that was caught last year was approximately 24lb but it has also been reported on a number of occasions that larger fish have been spotted – rumored to be in excess of 30lbs.
Snake Pit – 12 acres
Snake Pit can be found on the Fingringhoe Road on the outskirts of Colchester, at over 12 acres in size it has a reputation for big fish and is therefore aimed more at the specimen hunter than the general angler. Even following the death of “Dippy” Snake Pit still holds some very large fish a number of 20’s and 30’s with the largest resident in excess of 37lbs.
